Translation: Let the Good Times Roll in New Orleans And did they ever!
Tuesday morning we headed straight for the world famous Café du Monde for beignets and café au lait (iced, because it’s HOT here). Beignets are crisp, puffy, square French doughnuts. They came warm and fresh, and absolutely loaded with powdered sugar. Claire actually said it was too much sugar!
New Orleans is the place to get a mask. It is a surprise to see a store that doesn’t sell them. We looked at tons of them - they're so cool!
Other New Orleans sights:
Get this: You actually have to sign a waiver to sample their hottest hot sauce! Kids under 18 not allowed.
Here's a real New Orleans word for you: "lagniappe" (lan-yap.) It means a little something extra given to you for free. Like these frosty Starbucks iced coffees. A guy was just handing them out to everyone. Lagniappe!
